Thank you for participating in our Plastic Bag Bracelet craft.  You can pick up the plastic bags at the library or use your own.

We describe everything you need to do below, but if you would rather watch a video click here!

Materials:
Plastic Bags
Scissors
A heavy object or tape (optional)
Duct Tape (optional)

Directions:
Step 1: Cut off the handles of your plastic bag.  Then cut down the two side seams (if there is no seam, just cut the sides apart).  Open the bag and lay flat.  Optional: Cut apart on the bottom seam (depending on the size of your bag, this may make your bracelet too short.) If you are using bags from the library, we do not recommend cutting the bottom seam.
Step 2: Create strips from the plastic bag, approximately 1 to 2 inches wide.Step 3: Select three strips (should be the longest ones you have if using the library bags).  Twist each one separately. Make sure your twist is tight.  (You may want to put the ends of the strip under something heavy or tape them to the table to make it easier to twist.)

Step 4: Braid your twisted strips.

Step 5: Knot each end of your braid.  Determine how long your bracelet needs to be by closing the bracelet around your wrist.  Knot the bracelet at this spot. Cut off all excess plastic bag.  If you prefer, after determining how long the bracelet needs to be you can cut off the excess plastic bag and duct tape the two ends together.  Remember to re-knot each end before taping and leave enough excess bag to account for the knots.

Enjoy!
