The Board of Trustees operates according to the Library’s By-Laws and is responsible for setting Library Policies. Our Board consists of five members, each of whom serves a five year term. Every year one trustee’s term expires, and one trustee is elected at the annual West Hempstead Union Free School District Elections. West Hempstead Public Library is a School District Public Library and is subject to civil service and public procurement laws and regulations. As provided by New York State Education Law, it serves the residents of the West Hempstead Union Free School District, and voters within the school district determine the library’s budget and trustees.
