West Hempstead Policy for Museum Passes
West Hempstead Policy for Museum Passes
Family Passes
- Museum passes are available to resident West Hempstead Public Library card holders, age 18 and over, in good standing only. Patrons in good standing have a non-expired library card with no fines or overdue materials.
- Physical passes may be reserved up to one month in advance. Print-on-demand (digital) passes may be reserved for any day within the calendar year.
- To allow for equitable use of these passes, each family/household may place a reserve for 3 passes every month. Only one physical museum pass can be reserved at a time.
- If available, unreserved passes may be booked for same-day use on a walk-in basis.
- Patrons are responsible for checking with the museum to confirm hours, current exhibits, and library pass acceptance.
- Cardholders must cancel a reservation within 48 hours of the reserved date. Cancelled reservations count towards the 3 reservation allotments per month.
- The fine for an overdue physical pass is $10.00 per day. If a pass is not returned within three calendar days, the pass is considered lost. The replacement cost is a minimum of $50.00, additional fees may apply based on particular museums replacement fees.
- If a pass is reserved for pickup and has not been returned on time, two fines will be assessed to the patron in late violation: a $10 late fee AND a fee equaling the cost of admission spent by the patron who was deprived use of the Library Museum Pass due to the pass not being returned on time. The Patron deprived of use is required to submit proof of museum admission purchase.
- If a patron loses two passes, his/her museum pass privileges will be revoked for one year from the date the second pass was lost.
- Any fees incurred by a patron will be added to the patron’s library card account. Any amounts over $25.00 will be subject to the collection agency.
